- Consider a slightly wider driveway or a turning bay while machinery is already on site
- Ask about sealing if you're going with exposed aggregate or a coloured finish
Don'ts
- Don't drive on a new driveway before it's ready — foot traffic and vehicles have different waiting periods, and we'll tell you both
- Don't let anyone pour over the top of a failed driveway as a "cheap fix" — you inherit the old problem plus a new surface
- Don't park heavy vehicles on the edges of the slab; edges are always the weakest point
- Don't skip control joints to get a "cleaner look" — concrete will crack where it wants to instead of where we plan it to
- Don't assume the cheapest quote covers the same preparation; ask every quote what depth, base and reinforcement is included
